Our Monitoring of the Andes Amazon Program (MAAP) would not exist without the dedication, contributions, and hard work of our partners. MAAP partners with key conservation nonprofits (NGOs), Indigenous groups, government agencies, and other local organizations to provide them with easy-to-use data, access to key technology, tailored training, and other tools to enable them to detect, understand, and take action against deforestation and fires in real-time. Our partners work with their country’s government and law enforcement authorities to report illegal activities that destroy their forests and put local people’s livelihoods at risk, and support operations that stop illegal deforestation and nature crimes before they get to a point of no return. In many cases, our on-the-ground partners put their lives at risk to fight against the illegal activities that threaten their forest homes. We are honored to partner with them in their fight to stop deforestation in the Amazon.
The innovations to our work would not be possible without the wide array of organizations that provide us with the technical expertise and tools needed to advance the field of science and technology. We are grateful to our technical partners’ commitment to nature and generosity in providing their services on a pro-bono or low-bono basis that enables us to continue to be creative and innovative in our technical work while staying lean as a nonprofit organization.
